Virgin Manifested

The image of Virgin Mary revealed seems to be divided into two periods. The first period concerns the original image and dates back to the 5th century when the priest Kallistos was asked by the monks of the Holy Monastery of the Virgin Mary of Lefkada to paint the Holy Image of Istanbul. Callistos had not thought about the subject of the image and prayed for many days to be helped. That's when the Virgin Mary came to the wood and he added the colors. So the image took the name Virgin Mary revealed. The second period concerns a copy of the icon of the Virgin Mary as the original was destroyed along with the Monastery. It was therefore entrusted to the priest Benjamin Kontrakis to create a faithful copy of the image to which the priest Kutlumusian and many Lefkadites helped financially. Thus the icon arrived in Lefkada in 1887 on the eve of the Holy Spirit. Since then many miracles of the Sacred Image have been heard.
