In 1730 the icon disappeared from the temple and was found in the Holy Monastery of Xenophontos, which was absurd since the temple of Vatopaidi was extremely secured and considered sacrilege. The image was returned to Vatopadi Monastery with stricter security measures. However, shortly afterwards the image was again missing from the Monastery and the Holy Monastery of Xenophon was found again. Now the believers were convinced that it was a miracle and that the image chose the place of residence to which they went and bowed.
