Archangel Michael with Vintage Frame
Archangel Michael is the only one mentioned as an archangel in the Bible. It is believed that it was Saint Michael the Taxiarch that angel who appears in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), and indeed from the first moments of creation of the world. It was he who announced to Abraham the need to sacrifice his son, the one who appeared to Lot, and redeemed him and his family from the destruction of sodom and the one who led the people of Israel to flee Egypt by leading them to the Promised Land. According to the Eastern Orthodox Church, it belongs to the second of the nine battalions of bodies and is celebrated on November 8th. It also celebrates on September 6th. He is the patron saint of Brussels and Kiev.
