Saint Dionysios with Vintage Frame

Saint Dionysios of Zakynthos is a saint of the Eastern Orthodox Church. He lived and acted in Zakynthos from the middle of the 16th century until the beginning of the 17th century, while he also served as bishop of Aegina. From a young age he received a Christian education and possessed the Greek, Italian, ancient Greek and Latin languages. After his parents' death, monasticism followed. He passed away on 17 December 1622 and is celebrated on 27 August. Today he is one of the most popular modern saints and is patron saint of the city of Zakynthos.
