Saint Joseph

Joseph according to the New Testament was the suitor of the Virgin Mary. He came from Bethlehem and was a descendant of David. He had an active role in Christ's life as a suitor of the Virgin Mary, attended His birth, protected Him from the slaughter of Herus by taking him to Egypt and was beside Him until Jesus' twelfth birthday because he then passed away. He is honored as a saint by both the Orthodox and the Roman Catholic church on the first Sunday after Christmas.
