Saint David
Saint David came from Evia and was the child of a kind family. From an early age he followed the spiritual way of life as he was alone in a monastery of Magnesia following the priest Akakios who taught him the virtue of the lonely state. He was later ordained as Abbot at the Monastery of Panagia Varnakovas in Fthiotida, founding a small monastery. There he was accused of fleeing some slaves, arrested and tortured. When he was freed he went to Evia and settled in a ruined chapel, where today there is a monastery in his honor. It is celebrated every year on November 1st.
